On Sulfamethoxazole For Staph Infection. How Long Will The Antibiotic Take To Get Out Of The System?

i am currently taking Sulfamethoxazole for Staph infection. my last pill will be on Monday, how long does it take for the antibiotic to be out of the system, would it be hours, days or weeks? reason i ask, is that i was wondering when i could consume liquor again, as i am not drinking it (as i should not) while on the antibiotic.

hello

As you have said that you have taken sulphamethaxazole 80 mg? , for staph infection , now waht to drink , worried about excretion of this drug from your body

Half life of sulphamethaxazole is 9 hrs , meaning after 48 -72 hrs of leaving sulphamethaxazole you can easily have a drink ( of any concentration of alcohol)

Alcohol and sulphamethaxazole combination causes photosensitivity ( itchy rash when you roam around in sunlight

Hope this helps
