Pain After Dancing, Popping From Side Of Leg. Need To See Doctor?
I had dance class today. I know it s stupid, but I tried forcing myself to do a drop-split. It worked, but I was in pain afterwards. I think I either tore or pulled a muscle. I don t think I dislocated my hip since I can still walk without too much pain. It s my left groin muscles that hurt, my right ones are fine. I heard two fairly loud pops from both sides of my legs and I couldn t move for a while. Do I have to go see the doctor?
The pain can be attributed to musculo-skeletal trauma.
Symptomatic relief can be obtained by application of ice to the affected area, intake of analgesics like Diclofenac, anti spasmodics like Dicyclomine preparation (to be taken after food) and application of analgesic & muscle relaxant gel.
If symptoms still persist, kindly visit your General Physician & get a proper clinical examination done to rule out any possibility of fracture or soft tissue injury. You need to get X ray of the hip joint done for the same.
Having pain after hearing a popping sound in your left groin while splitting signifies a torn tendon or muscle. Pain reliever may help but for further evaluation, you need to see an orthopaedic doctor, an mri in the affected area is the best modality for muscular or tendon injuries. Thank you.
Dr. Eric
