Pain In Back Of Mouth, Hurts To Chew, Tender To Touch. What To Do?
Have pain in the back of my mouth on the left side. It's not the jaw, but the tendon(not sure if actually a tendon). It hurts to chew and is tender to the touch. I don't feel any lumps or see anything different than on the right side. It had been hurting for a few days now. Just had my teeth clean a couple of months ago and nothing was said about anything looking bad.
Pain in the back of the mouth can be due to infected tooth radiating pain on the back of the mouth.
There ca be a impacted wisdom tooth on the same side leading to pain and swelling.
Other than this there can be chances of some Temporomandibular joint disorder.
I would suggest you to visit to an Dentsit and get the checkup done,
Take necessary x-rays if needed, an OPG radiograph to look for any TMJ abnormality.
Take tab combiflam twice for pain relief.
Use warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day, antiseptic mouthwash gargles twice daily.
Hello dear
Your information seems to be incomplete as you have not mentioned your age.
Such case appears because of wisdome teeth. And it is most probably not the tendon but the flap over wisdom tooth. It will be better if you consult your dentist.in the mean while start doing warm saline rinses, it will give you relief.
If it is really a tendon, then it can be due to over opening of mouth, leading to a sprain like condition of jaw muscles.warm saline rinses will also help in this condition.

The pain at the back of mouth may be due to-
Proximal caries.
Impacted wisdom tooth.
Periodontal infection resulting in alveolar bone loss.
I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical as well as x-ray examination of the involved area.
If caries present, get it restored or root canal treated.
Root stumps or grossly decayed tooth has to be extracted.
Impacted tooth has to be extracted or flap overlying tooth has to be removed to enhance tooth eruption.
in case of bone loss, bone grafting has to be done.
Take medicines after consulting with your dentist.
Hope this helps.
