Pain In Jaw, Hurting While Chewing, Constant Ache In Mouth And Teeth. Infection Or TMJ Symptoms?

My jaw started hurting a few days ago, only when I opened it a certain way or yawned. Now it hurts a lot more when I open it or chew or even just move it from side to side, and there is a constant ache in my mouth and teeth that seems to have gotten worse throughout the day. Is this an infection of some kind, or TMJ symptoms?

Welcome to health care magic!
I have gone through your question and from that it appears that from past few days you have an increasing pain in your jaw, earlier only while opening it but now it is constant.

From my clinical experience I can say that it seems to be a case of Temporomandibular jount problem (not specifically infection, as there is no complain of redness, swelling, fever etc.).

Had I been at your place I would certainly go to my dentist and get my self checked. He might go for an X Ray jaw, both sides, and give you some medicines.

I feel that till you see a doctor, please follow these:
- dont try to open your jaw forecefully
- give it support under the chin with your hand while jawning or coughing (again to prevent sudden jerky movement of jaw.)
- take some pain killer and antiinflammatory drug like: diclofenac sodium 5omg, may be twice a day
- avoid taking hard foods and big pieces to chew

Only after proper investigations one can pinpoint the exact etiology of this problem. However from small duration of your problem I think there sould not be anthing major to worry about.

Hope the reply helps you to get better
