Pain In Molars, Extends To Left Side And Causes Pain. Any Ideas ?
Hi Dr., I've been having pain in my molars (#2 and #31). Sometimes the pain extends to the left side and causes pain in #18 and #15. Is there a nerve that is connected throughout the mouth? I'm thinking if the nerve on one side is damaged, then it might be causing the pain to the other 3. I highly doubt they all need root-canals and think the dentist is simply looking into making money... I checked another dentist but he doesn't know either. Any ideas? Thanks!
The nerve supply he lower teeth are same but in upper jaw there is variation.
In your case, i suspect multiple dental decay, which required to be well diagnosed clinically as well as radio graphically, and then based upon their severity it should be treated accordingly.
whenever the decay is superficial,it is treated by suitable restoration but when the caries goes deep and involves pulp tissues(where the nerves tissues are there)it is treated by root canal followed by a cap on it.
you can send us radio graphic images for further evaluation and better diagnosis.
Hi Thanks for sharing your concern, Pain in teeth can be due to caries, gum diseases, impacted wisdom teeth and so on. You have not mention any blackening in tooth or food lodgement in between teeth or swelling in gums or erupting wisdom teeth. So you need a thorough clinical and radiographical examination to rule out the reason of pain in molars. Sometimes to localise pain in mouth becomes difficult so it seems that all teeth are aching . Due to nerves, this tooth pain is referred to other side of jaw/ Temple region/ ear also. If root canal treatment has to be done as per your dentist then go for it because it is not a medium of money make, infact its just the way to save a tooth. Maintain oral hygiene Take care
hi... thanks for the query... you need proper clinical and radiographic examination... i don't think they all need RCTs until or unless they are deeply carious... sometimes when infection reaches the periapical region, it becomes diffuse and one cant point out the tooth involved so proper examination is required... hope it will help you... take care...
According to your clinical symptoms i suspect that multiple tooth are infected, you require a thorough dental checkup and radiological evaluation. Tooth pain indicated infection in the tooth that had spread to the deeper tissues, such type of infected tooth needs to be treated with root canal treatment to save it permanently. Take a course of antibiotics and anlgesics under prescription of your Dentist.
Pain in the tooth indicates infection of the tooth that need to be root canal treated, you need to take an x-ray of the affected region to decide the correct treatment plan. Till then you can start with the course of antibiotics and analgesic under the prescription of your dentist.
Take care!
