Pain In Right Hip, Stiffness, Sore Spot On Hip Joint Area. Suggested Corisone Injection. Suggest

Good Morning
Since last summer my right hip has been causing me pain and limitation in climbing stairs. Stiffness if I sit longer than 30 mins. and worse after 2 hrs. when it takes me a while to getting going again. As I sleep on my right side it is painful and goes down through my leg. Have been to Physio has acupuncture now a cortisone injection is suggested. There is no redness but I do have a particularly sore spot on my hip joint area. Any ideas please?

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read your details. It looks that you are having bursitis at hip-

http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00409

At present you should do following to have relief in this-

-Take a good anti inflammatory analgesic .I used to prescribe indomethacin or neproxen to such patients.

-If pain is there even after analgesics then you should opt for steroid injections .This will help in reliving the problem.

-Do rest.

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.
