Pain In Right Side. Kidney And Gall Bladder Removed, Have Elevated Liver Count. Would This Cause Pain?
I've been experiencing severe pain on my right side for the past week where the kidney would normally be. I've had my right kidney and gall bladder removed and have been diagnosed with elevated liver count. Would this account for the pain? I have an appt. with my urologist this week and should I seek his input or another type of specialist?
HI thanks for your question. Yes elevated liver count means there is problem in liver and it can account for pain, however other investigations like abdominal ultrasound, urine analysis would be use full. Urologist and liver specialist would be of help to you. Hope I answered your question, I will be happy to help you if you have other queries.
Normally elevated liver enzymes should not cause any pain unless the apparent cause is hepatitis or liver abscess or fatty liver or another liver condition which results to liver inflammation. You will need a gastroenterologist as specialist to look further into that. Right sided pain could be as a result of appendicitis or other digestive problem and not necessarily from the kidneys (which as you mentioned was already removed. After seeing your urologist he might be able to redirect you to a gastroenterologist or he might decide to manage you himself.
Hope this helps
