Pain In Small Frontal Joint Of Big Toe. X-ray Showed Arthritis In Big Joint. Increased Joint Pain After Steroid Injection. Normal?
I am experiencing a huge increase in joint pain after a steroid injection into big toe joint yesterday.(about 20 hours ago) My original pain is in small frontal joint of big toe but x ray shows arthritis in the bigger joint hence doctor thinks the larger joint is the problem and injected here. Can hardly walk today. Is this normal and can I expect improvement soon (if only to original pain level?)
Steroids give effect i 3-4 days. your doctor may also like to rule out gout by serum uric acid level. If gout is there you may need gout specific medicines. Leave it to your doctor to re-evaluate and wait for steroid effect
