Pain In The Lower Ribs. Is This Due To Muscle Strain? History Of Trauma From Accidents
Have a tightening type pain in my lower ribs right front . started about 4 years ago hurts when I laugh or turn a certain way. Can get to a 7 out of 10 for pain. I just turned 50 and was wondering if is just some kind of muscle strain as I have been an athlete riding motorcycles all my life. I also look extended and somewhat bloated. I have had past trauma from motorcycle accidents. Wondering what this might be. Thanks for any help.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
I have read your query in detail. The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fermentation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not lift weight or try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time for the injury to heal.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
