Pain In The Palms While Getting Wet, Peeling Of Skin With White Bumps. What Is It?
I am a 14 year old female. The palms of my hand hurt when they get wet. The creases get really deep and my skin get very wrinkly only after a few minutes in the water. They also have little hard white bumps and then peel. This will happen for a few months, clear up and then go back through the cycle again for a few months.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us.
You seem to be suffering from a type of eczema known as dyshidrotic eczema or pompholyx.
To treat the same you may use a steroid cream twice in a day. Use a good moisturiser to keep your hands well hydrated. If the lesions are too itchy, you may take oral antihistamine like cetirizine.
Sometimes if eczema is severe a short course of low dose oral steroid is required. I would advise that you consult a qualified dermatologist nearby to get your skin examined so that proper therapy can be initiated.
Take care
Hi, you are having pompholyx..As in other forms of hand dermatitis, pompholyx is aggravated by contact with irritants such as water, detergents and solvents. Contact with them must be avoided as much as possible and protective gloves worn to prevent. Some people with pompholyx are found to be allergic to nickel, a common metal. Pompholyx often runs a chronic course, but may go away for long periods. It often reappears after a period of nervous tension, worry or stress. Unfortunately pompholyx does not have any quick sure cure. It is also known as dyshidrotic eczema... The exact cause is not known. Some investigators consider it is caused by abnormal sweating. As in other forms of hand dermatitis, pompholyx is aggravated by contact with irritants such as water, detergents and solvents. Contact with them must be avoided as much as possible and protective gloves worn to prevent additional irritant contact dermatitis. Avoid contact with metal containing nickle,as nickle allergy is very common.
