Pain, Numbness In Foot After Falling From Stairs. Is It Strain Or Fracture?
I took a fall down stairs today and landed hard on the part of my foot between the arch & heel on the last step. Pain immediately but was able to get up and walk around all night. Now I have much pain and slight numbness of my arch and outside edge of my foot. A little behind my ankle too. Could it be a simple strain or do I need to worry about some sort of fracture .

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
In the interim, apply ice packs to the affected area,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
