Pain, Swelling In Right Leg. Inside Knees Had Raised Veins, Having Some Purple Shades. Ultrasound Required?
My Husband has been having pain in his right leg off and on for several months, but lately it has been pretty much every day. His leg will hurt, then at night when he gets undressed we can see that he is swelled up at the line where his socks are at "as if he is retaining water" and the area around the inside of his knee has raised veins (really raised veins). Then this afternoon he called me and said that when he was changing into his hunting clothes he noticed that his right leg had some purple shades to it. I have made him an appointment to see our general practitioner in the morning, but I'm worried that he should be going to the ER now for an ultrasound to make sure it's not blod clots, etc. What are your thoughts.... ?
Hello, In my opinion, the symptoms suggestive of varicose veins ( dilated veins) and need radiological tests for confirmation. Treatment would be sclerotherapy, surgery ligation and stripping depending upon the intensity. You can also use compression stockings to improve blood return. Hope this helped you. Thanks.
