Painful, Huge Lump In Armpit With Yellowish, Green Mucus Secretion. Is This Serious?

Hey I'm 18 and I've had a large lump under my armpit for about two weeks now. When I first for it, it was really tiny that I thought it was a pimple but over the night it growed and it's really large and painful. A couple of days a go it's been producing yellowish, greenish moucus, so I think it's infected. But I've drained all the moucus out now I'm still left with the lump and it's really hard like a rock when I touch it. It's also very painful when I try to put my arm down. I haven't been to the doctors yet
Please help.
Should I be worried.?

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Folliculitis.
It occurs due to infection/inflammation of hair follicles.

As it's producing yellowish green mucus (pus) it indicates that the lump has got infected.
So, kindly consult your Physician & get it drained under strict aseptic precaution with antibiotic cover.
One more thing...please avoid squeezing the bump, as it will aggravate it further.

Further management will include:
1. Application of topical antiseptic ointment.
2. Topical antibiotics such as neomycin ointment
3. Analgesic & anti-inflammatory agents for symptomatic relief.
4. Multivitamins & zinc to assist in healing process.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Take care.
