Painful Knees, Pins And Needles In Left Foot. Displaced Knee Cap On Left Leg. Anything To Worry?

My daughter (18 and overweight) suffers from painful knees and has a displaced knee cap on left side. We have just returned from long journey in car (approx 18 hours with several 20 minute breaks) and her knees are now very stiff. This was to be expected but for the last three hours she has also had pins and needles in left foot. No sign of swelling, redness or heat. Do I need to worry.
