Painful Lump Between Fossa And Helix Of Outer Ear, Inner Portion Of Helix, Pain On Touching. Treatment Options?
I have a VERY painful lump between the fossa and helix of my outer ear . The lump is on the inner portion of my helix. Very painful. I never had piercings on my right auricle. Can anyone inform me on what this is and how to get rid of it. I am in so much pain. When I touch it, it hurts, let alone sleeping on my right side. Please help! ):
Hi Abeer.issa,
The whole ear pinna is made of cartilages and receives a very rich nerve supply and is quite vascular.
Your swelling seems to be a bacterial infection. It may be an Abscess or a Chondritis.
In any case you need to consult a doctor and most likely a local incision and drainage under local anesthesia will be required along with appropriate course of broad spectrum antibiotics and analgesics.
Take Care!
