Peeling On The Tongue After Eating Sour Candy. What To Do?
I ate alot of sour candy the other day and then my tongue felt kinda numb in the middle for a day or so and then today I rubbed my tongue across my teeth kind of hard and realized my skin on my tongue was peeling, in a similar way to sun burn , and none related perhaps but all my life ive seemed to have a film on my cheeks that I can painlessly chew off daily.
hello and welcome to hcm forum CC,
i am glad to posted your query, first of all i would like to inform you that your tongue has abraded a little due to the friction with is produced while sucking and chewing the sour candy, excess of everything can harm.
I assume that even your palate might have peeled a little.do not worry, the tongue will heal completely in 3-5 days. Avoid spicy and sour food for a while , as the tongue is still peeling.
besides, i could not get that your cheeks have a film which probably you can chew off, i recommend you to visit your dentist regarding the same.
i hope i answered your query,
i wish you good health,
take care.
Hallo sir
welcome to Health care magic
Thanks for the concern
its because of too much sour on the tongue for long time.
nothing to worry at all. you just have eat less spicy food for a week and avoid too hot/cold foods/beverages. need to stop smoking and alcohol consumption for few days till the tongue heals and comes to normal.
if doesnot subside after all these , consult a dentist for the opinion.
hope this will help you.
Take care.
Hi,
I read your problem. See, candy is etiological agent(cause). The powder is most likely citric acid and sugars. The sour nature acheived by use of high concentration of citric acid, because acid on tongue and oral mucosa burns the epithelial layer off and like most chemical burns, you are seeing sloughing of superficial layer of mucosa.Sometimes most likely all the rough sugars in sour patch caused the bacteria to begin peeling. Rinse your mouth with water or double baking soda. You can use topical anaesthetics which contain benzocaine, lignocaine, tetracaine will help to relieve burning sensation. Visit your dentist also.
Peeling of the tongue can be due to friction produced while sucking the candy. Done worry it will heal after sometimes. Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses Take multivitamin suplements. Avoid eating of hot and spicy foodstuffs for some days. Avoid alcohol consumption & smoking.
hello
dont worry the sores on tongue will heal itself.
for relief avoid hot spicy food have vitamin
supplements drink plenty of water and in case
of pain apply anaesthetic gel on the affected area
