Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
If I were your treating doctor for this severe bouts of
cough I would come up with these possibilities , these includes.
1 Asthmatic allergic
bronchitis , diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination and clinical history by a physician .
As you mentioned that this cough is from many years so may be due to some sort of allergen.
2
Bronchiectasis , as you mentioned that there is copious amount of phlegm ( expectoration ) present so get in
X ray chest and consult a physician . Also get in blood for C B C , E S R , and sputum ( phlegm ) for A F B .( as
tuberculosis may be the cause along bronchiectasis). Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical as well as clinical examination.
3
Lung abscess one of the most prominent cause , so go for X RAY CHEST and be examined by a physician .
As seal barking sound is due to presence of expectoration ( phlegm ) in lungs with bronchconstriction .Your weight is not a cause of concern.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion.
Good luck. Dr. HET
