Pimple On Nose, Spreading To Upper Lip, Painful, Sinus Swelling On Nose. Underlying Cause?
Hi, yesterday I developed w what I thought was a pimple starting on the outside edge of my nose, was pretty painful. Within couple hours it extended down to my upper lip. Woke during the night with swelling now from lip(with blisters) along my nose including sinus swelling on one side up to my eye. Painful and slightly red along my face from lip to eye. Have not come in contact with any known allergens. What can this be? Thank you Jeanae
It seems like from what you describe you might be suffering from facial cellulitis caused by staphylococcal/streptococcal infection which is spreading slowly to affect the subcutaneous tissue around your eye. It may have started initially as a boil or a bug bite which might have been the source of entry for the infection and now is spreading elsewhere.
You should seek medical attention immediately before it starts affecting your eye more severely. Based on your physician's examination, you may most likely be needing antibiotics.
Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Regards, Dr. Sumeet.
