I have been having symptoms of diabetes for awhile. my sister is diabetic and tested me. i have had several postprandial numbers well over 200 and one of 391. my fasting numbers are always over 100 and had some 126,127,153. had fasting blood work along with lipid panel done last week. the nurse said my fasting level was 5.2 and showed normal lipid levels. but i am still experiencing symptoms and high postprandial numbers. is it possible i can still be diabetic? nurse said for me to stop checking my blood. that was her only advice. she said i m not diabetic since my morning fasting test showed normal. i m confused. any help would be appreciated.
Yes now i am suspecting atleast Pre Diabetes Stage. Gabapentin is fine. PCOS also predisposes to diabetes according to few studies. Please get a GTT Glucose Tolerance Test done from any lab. That will pin point the diagnosis.
Good Luck!!!!!

I have a strong suspicion that you have diabetes. Symptoms and multiple supra-normal fasting and post prandial level adds to it. Please get Hba1c done. It will show an average blood glucose control over last 3 months. Also get a fresh Fasting and Post meal levels from a lab. I think that should confirm the diagnosis.
Hi
This means you are certainly in Pre Diabetes Stage atleast. I think you can start 250 mg Metformin after consulting your doctor once daily because it is used in pre diabetes as well in PCOS in Gynaecology.
You must check your cholesterol and BP also regularly.
Thanks!!!!!
i think u r in prediabetic stage, first change ur life style do everyday 1 hr brisk walking, diet under control and check ur fasting and post lunch after 1 month, if it is normal u can manage urself by physical activity only and if it is high then will start some low dose metformin.
Hi dear
welcome to health care magic!!
fasting blood sugar levels above 126 mg/dl are diagnostic of diabetes mellitus not 100. And fasting is more reliable than post prandial. Levels rise due to stress , drugs ,etc do you take any medicines or do you have excessive stress or any other disease?
Reply here or at my email.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!
