Possibility Of A Worm Or An Infection In Throat Causing Severe Pain

hi,my father having a pain in his thort almost a two year.he is taking so many medication but no releaf from pain,just know he did endoscpy for his throt,now gastro dr telling him he has a alive worm or infection in his thort what is all this also he gave him to take pantocid HP tablets.can u plz explain me what is this.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe pain in throat, well there can be many reason for symptoms you mention in query like sore throat ( strep throat or viral infection), pharyngitis , acid reflux and mallory weiss tear. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and consult ENT specialist for proper examination of the condition. you should take plenty of fluids. Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestant and expectorant. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist if he/she find problem to be related with acid reflux. You should not sleep immediately after having food. For now eat light meals and avoid spicy and acidic food .
