Potassium Intake For 3 Rd Stage PKD Patient?

Hi Dr. Grief, I have stage 3 PKD diagnosed 5 years ago. My cysts are growing and my Kidneys are enlarged according to my primary Dr. Trying to see my Neufroligist soon. July is the soonest he can see me. I m meeting with my Nuetrianist this week to get on a low potassium diet. What is the most potassium can i intake daily ?

How much potassium you can take depends on what your levels are. Have you done a potassium serum levels? If they are low, you may rather need to consume more and if it is high, then reducing intake would be advised. I cannot independently say what quantity would be best for you without having an idea of what the current levels are. Do you have kidney insufficiency? PKD in no way means the kidneys do not work well. We would need al of the details before making specific recommendations.
