Pregnancy. Had Water Breaks, Started To Go Into Labor. Not Much Fluid Left. Any Problem?

Hi, myname is Lyn, I am just asking for a friend of mine. She has had her waters break saturday at around 2:40am, and also started to go into labor, the hospital stopped her labor, but she is worried as she has not much fluid left and she is 34wks and a half wks, is there any problems that can occur with stopping her labor, or will all be fine???

Hello,
When the leak of membranes is such that pregnancy can be continued without causing difficulty to the fetus, the labor can be arrested provided the leak is small enough and seals, if the baby is too far from maturity and proper monitoring is available. if the leak is serious as your friend has and the liquor is almost gone, it is wise to intercept the pregnancy be it at whatever stage, as the chances of infection are high with unwanted prognosis both to the mother and the fetus. Though the baby is premature, with proper neonatal care, everything should be fine. It is left to your obstetrician's choice and the patient's decision. Take care.
