I am 32 weeks pregnant and suddenly I have developed Bell s palsy one week back and I have consulted a physician for it and he prescribed me 20 mg Wysolone for 5 days which is a steroid and also prescribed physiotherapy , which I am undergoing now. Please let me know if it is safe for my baby and me to take a steroid during 9th month of pregnancy .
Hi,Hajruhi,
Welcome to hcm,
As you have got Bell's palsy, for recovery steroid is a must.
As you are having 32 weeks pregnancy there is no problem if short course of steroid is given.
Usually any medicine is to be avoided during first trimester of pregnancy.
Keep in mind that only short course to be taken and that with tapering dose.
But it is better to consult your Obst and discuss the matter.
Ok and bye.
