Pregnant, Increased Blood Pressure. Prescribed Dexamethasone Injections. C-section To Be Done. Suggestions?
Hi doctor I am 36 weeks and few days pregnant.my blood pressure remained 120/80 throughout the pregnancy but now for the first time it reached 130/90. My gyn recommend me two injections of dexamethasone of 12.5 mg 12 hrs apart.she recommend me constant monitoring of BP twice a day.she says if my BP remained 130/90 then she will have to do c section two weeks before the due date.my questions are is that my BP is too high and what about the injections,should I go for that?

Yes your BP is high for pregnancy. But it may not cause any harm if controlled properly. There are other factors also which determines the harm of BP in pregnancy. To prevent harms caused by high BP, csection is must.
As you are going to have csection two weeks earlier, so it is important to make the child able to survive. The dexamethasone injection will support the baby for survival.
My advice is go for the injection.

No the BP is not that high that you require a C section for that.
It may be required for other reasons
Betamethasone is given for lung maturity of the fetus in premature delivery
I think you can wait and take alpha methyl dopa tablets under doctor's guidance
Salt restricted diet is advisable
