Pregnant, Itchy Body. Will Avil Affect Baby?

hi doctor,i am 26 week pregnant and for the last one week i had felt server itching in my whole body and it starts from my belly(and some more pimples at the part of stretch mark ).And my consultung doctor advise me to take Avil tablet twice daily.Is it safe to take the tablet at this time??Is it badly affect to my baby ??

yes it is safe in pregnancy.you can take it
you can apply calapure lotion the areas of itching
if itching subsides by it then no need to take avil

There is a tablet called Dexchlorpheniramine (Polaramine) . This is an anti histamine which is very effective and safe in pregnancy . It will not harm the pregnancy nor will it harm the baby .
We give it to all our patients of pregnancy and itching .

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

Itching in pregnancy is due to increased bile salts in blood and is not dangerous and will reside on its own.

Taking avil during pregnancy is not a good idea,I would recommend you to stop the tablet soon and apply Calamine lotion which relieves the itching.
