Pregnant, Loose Stools, Diarrhea Like Consistency, Undigested Food. Cause Of Worry?

Hi, I am 33 weeks pregnant. Recently, I have been having very loose stools almost diarrhea like consistency but for the last 2 days, I noticed that food in my stool is passed out undigested. I am worried because I would like to think that the vegetables I eat will benefit my baby rather than be passed out whole. what do you think?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Given that this is a recent problem, I am guessing that this might be a temporary problem such as a GI illness. Make sure that you are not drinking too much water, and consider trying to increase the amount of fiber in your diet. Also, continue to take your prenatal vitamin as most of the nutrients will continue to be absorbed in adequate amounts, such as iron. You can also talk with your doctor about Immodium or some other medication that can be used to slow your bowels down.

I hope that this helps and good luck! If you would like a more detailed or prompt answer, please consider the Premium Service.
