Pregnant Taking Iron Pills. Locking Jaws With Pain. Side Effect?

I am 35 weeks pregnant and have been prescribed iron pills, once daily. Since I've started on them, my jaw has been tightening up and locking, and is painful and sore. I also feel the same tight feeling at the bottom of my esophagus.Is this a less common side effect of iron supplements or The symptoms of something else entirely?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Iron pills are associated with constipation. Some of the upper abdominal discomfort could be related to this constipation, even felt in the location you are describing. But the fact that you are having other odd symptoms, and given the relative high location of this pain AND given that you are 35 weeks along, a call to your doctor to come in to have your blood pressure checked would be a good idea.
