Pregnant, Thyroid Level For TSH Tested. Will It Affects Fetus?
Hi, my wife is 23 weeks pregnant but she was told that she has a thyroid level TSH reading of 7.48microIU/ml, FT3-3.32pg/ml and FT4-0.89ng/dl She has had this reading since at least her 3rd month, without any medication. Could you please tell me what effects this may have on the fetus . and now she take THYROX-75 is it right for her??
Your wife is suffering from hypothyroidism and this type of picture usually gets uncovered during pregnancy, when there is more demand for thyroid hormones. It is good that she has been started on thyrox- 75...this will help in correcting her thyroid profile and will only benefit the fetus (and not harm it). Right amounts of thyroid hormone in the mother is required for the normal development of the brain and nervous system of the fetus.
You should advise her to take her medication regularly.
