Pregnant, Was Drinking Heavily. Have I Damaged The Embryo?

I just discovered I am pregnant. And I am terrified I have damaged the embryo . I would be in my third week (post conception ) now. But for the first two weeks, when I did not know, I was drinking very heavily. Approximately 12 ounces of hard liquor a day. I have not had a drink since I discovered I was pregnant, but for the first 15 or 17 days from conception I was (I had sex twice this month so could only be one of those two occasions). I am very afraid I have already caused structural damage to the embryo. Would I have caused major damage? what should I do?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Heavy drinking can cause damage to the fetus. Since you have consumed hard liquor during the first three weeks of pregnancy, the risk of fetal malformation needs to be ruled out. You can consult your gynecologist regarding the same.
