Pregnant With Abdominal Pain After Sonogram. Is It Normal?
my wife had a sonogram yesterday pretty extensive alot of pictures were taken of the baby, wich meant alot of moving around with the machine against her stomach and of course alot of pressure applied..... Today she had to come home from work because she wasnt feeling well, has abdominal pain, she says it feels like labor pains and it hurts. She is 22 weeks along. Cannot get ahold of primary DR. QUESTION ???????? Is this normal after that kind of sonogram? Or should we go to the emergency room ??
Hi and sorry to hear about what your wife is experiencing.
Pains after sonogram is not the rule but a rare occurrence. Also such pains described as labour like and intense to make her call off work cannot be solely attributed to the extensive sonogram of yesterday.
Are the pains intermittent or constant? Does it hurt more when you touch the abdomen? If intermittent, not affected by touching the abdomen, please, go to the ER.
These types of pains in pregnancy may point towards threatened abortion or preterm labour. I will suggest that you get it investigated before settling for non specific pregnancy related pains. Go to the emergency room.
Hope this helps. Wish you both a good health. Feel free to come back!
