Pregnant Women. Side Effects On Taking Minasco. Can I Use Nexpro Instead?
hello doctor, iam 9 months pregnant and m taking Minasco capules for my iron requirement. since iam using iron pills i have come across the side effects like gastric problems. my doctors suggested me to take Nexpro RD tablets before meal to reduse the same. is it safe to take these tablets? is it has any side effect on my baby please suggest.
Nexpro RD tablets contain esomeprasole, which reduces the gastric acid resolving your gastric problem. Usually, OG prescribes in pregnant women safely.
I would also suggest to:
- since you are 9 month pregnant, eat often and small portions of food to avoid gastric problems.
- take your Minasco capsules with meal to avoid gastric problems.
- pregnancy is one other factor contributing to your gastric problems, so have patience.
- Usually, I prescribe sodium bicarbonate to pregnant ladies after meal or once they feel their gastric problems (burning).
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
The iron pills are associated with constipation and usually it is recommended to be on stool softeners. The Nexpro is used to treat reflux related problems, not constipation. Both stool softeners and reflux medications are considered safe during pregnancy, but this should also be confirmed with your doctor directly. If there are concerning symptoms of abdominal discomfort or GI upset, then you need to be evaluated for complications of pregnancy itself.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
