Premature Child, Spitting Feed Via Nose, Constant Vomiting Sensation, Given Mashyne. Cause?
My child is premature born in 35 weeks. I got her home at 37 weeks at the weight of 2.3 kg (his birth weight ). From the past 2 weeks, she is spitting feed via nose (from 20%- 30%) almost after every feed. Even after 1 hr or 2 hr of sleep. She keeps having feed coming from nose and constant vomiting sensation too. Her stool frequency is almost after every meal, sometimes loose, sometimes paste like. Doctor has given Mashyne and Astymine -C . I wanted to ask is it ok for my child feed coming from nose and constant vomiting sensation ? if not, please guide me about her medicines and how to reduce her nose spill and vomit sensation.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic Usually babies bring out feeds and again swallow it back(rumination) Passing motion after each feed is normal If you feel she is regurgitating more frequently and more quantity, it may be gastro esophageal reflux For that you have to feed the baby in propped up position and thickened feeds If the food is coming out constantly from nose, a cleft palate may be missed Please consult pediatrician and rule out that possibility Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
