Prescribed Flagyl For Bacterial Vaginosis. Symptoms Gone, But Having A Breakout In The Genitals. Due To Excessive Discharge?
I had an affair. I came down with a case of BV. I went to the ER before having sex with my husband to make sure everything was ok. They went ahead and treated me. No call in 3 days like they said they would. I have no insurance so when my symptoms came back I finally got someone on the phone. She prescribed me a single dose of flagyl. I took it last night. Woke up, BV symptoms were gone. All of a sudden I have a breakout in my genital area. I am wondering, could the excessive amount of discharge for so many days have caused this?
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Excessive inflammatory discharge from the vagina does lead to softening of genital skin and maceration and breakdown. Only a single dose of Flagyl is not adequate treatment of BV, it requires thrice daily dose for 7 to 10 days and also treatment of your partners to prevent recurrence.
Local application of steroid ointment along with antifungal agent will help healing of raw area created by BV
