Prescribed Ecosprin, Metstamlo And Levipil For Hypertension And Mild Stroke. How Long This Has To Be Taken?

hi my husbund had left side hedache and eye paining high bp 170 and hypertension problem and mild stroke he felt for half second we thought actually we dont know what exactly happened on 30 april 2013 now he is ok doctor prescribed him ecosprin AV 150 mg, metstamlo 55 mg and levipil 500 mg now how long he has to take this medicine or he is feeling weakness sleepiness and disturb behaviour pls suggest me

Hi,
Based on your details it seems your husband had developed ischemic stroke with seizure and he is also hypertensive that's why doctor has prescribed the above mentioned medicines

Your query regarding how long this medicines to be continued, answer is
1) Ecosprin AV(ecosprin + atorvastatin) to be continued for next 3 months then dose of ecosprin can be reduced to 75 mg, it all depend on MRI brain finding

2) anti hypertensive stamlo to be continued life long

3)Levipil is an anti epileptic drug presently to continue for 3 months further decision depends on site of infarct in brain (if cortical damage and scar is persisting drug to be continued life long)

4)increased sleepiness and behaviour disturbance can be either due to levipil itself or due to the site of damage in brain,it can also be due to metabolic derangement like sodium change , high or low blood sugar and many

Review with the primary consultant/Neurologist for further plan of management
