Prescribed With Contraceptive Pills. Suffer From Varicose Veins. Is It Safe To Take The Pills?
I am 42 years old and my FSH has already reached 54, my GP recommends me taking contraceptive pills but I think I may have the symptoms of varicose veins but to be honest im still not 100% sure I have it or maybe it's only in the early stages. Do you think I should take the pills or not? I read somewhere that taking pills whilst having varicose veins can lead to blood clots.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, Your age is 42 taking oral contraceptive pill is not good idea please visit Gynecologist as you are sure about varicose vein please get yourself examined to be sure that it is there or not. Going for IUCD(intrauterine contraceptive device)or permanent method like TT(Tubal ligation or tubectomy) may be good alternative if suitable. Yes certainly oral contraceptive pills increase chances of blood clot called deep vein thrombosis and embolism to lungs which can be dangerous. Please take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
