Prescribed With Zoloft For Depression And Anxiety. Have Headache And Dizziness
Hi, I've just been prescribed Zoloft for depression and anxiety, also my blood pressure was sky high so I was also prescribed blood pressure tablets (tritace 10mg) The antidepressant were initially not so effective so my Dr recommended that I take two tablets instead of one, this plus one tablet of tritace has left me feeling terrible with dizziness and headaches. Last check with my blood pressure still has it slightly high. My question is can Zoloft counteract with my blood pressure tablets and create a blood pressure problem? Thank-you
It is unlikely that Zoloft is interacting with your blood pressure medicine and causing a rise in blood pressure. But the sudden doubling of the dose can cause headache and a worsening of anxiety which usually improves in a few days. The worsening of anxiety can cause a rise in the blood pressure which again worsens the headache. You need to know that Zoloft and other antidepressants take around four to six weeks to show their response and you should wait for this duration before deciding whether a dose hike is needed or not. I expect you will be much better in a week or so. Please do not worry.
Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
