Prognosis After Been Diagnosed With Chronic Bronchitis And Pneumanosis
My husband was screened by his company and the diagnosis came back pneumanosis. He was diagnosed last year with chronic bronchitis and does have a pneumanologist. Is this disease "black lung" ? Also will his basic treatment change with this diagnosis. May I also ask about prognosis. Thank you, Sally Russell, RN (ret)
Hi,Dear.Welcome to Healthcare Magic. Yes pneumoconiosis is called BLACK LUNG DISEASE/COAL WORKER'S DISEASE. The treatment will be the same as for chronic bronchitis but there are some important things to be kept in mind: 1.He should avoid further exposure to the dust. 2.If he is a smoker he should quit smoking. 3.He should take medicines regularly so that the disease should not complicate. The prognosis for pneumoconiosis is good if it is not complicated. So avoid further exposure. Hope this answers your query.
