Hello My mother has started with proteinuria 2+ with swelling of feet n hands and some pleural effusion... Her creatinine is 2.2 and urea 45.. sodium n K+ normal She was initially put on dytor 20 ..after which her swelling reduced drastically...then she was shifted to dytor plus 5....after which she has again started developing swelling.. She is diabetic but very well controlled No Uti at present Kindly advise
I think, she is having features of congestive heart failure. She should be investigated for the same and if it is present, then the reason should be found out and treated accordingly. A complete physical examination like presence of hepatomegaly, raised JVP, B/L basal crepitations as well as presence of orthopnea and exertional dyspnea may be present. Conditions of anemia, hypoproteinemia are also to be looked for, by relevant blood investigations. Echocardiography is always necessary in such cases.
