Purple Bruising With Swelling Below The Knee Spread To Ankle. History Of Bumping The Shin To Dashboard Of Car. Serious?

I was camping July long weekend and I was in a car and bumped my shin on the dashboard on my left leg just below my knee on Saturday evening right after I had a huge bump on it I applied some ice to my leg and elevated it for awhile I have been icing it ever since. Today I woke up and I have bruising which is purple and blue and now the swelling went to my ankle and there is now purple and blue bruising there. I do not know if I should wait and go to a medical clinic tomorrow or I should go to emergency this evening..

Hi what you have is a hematoma due to the impact which would take some time to resolve and usually spreads under the skin. If walking is painful you need to see a orthopaedician and get necessary x-rays done. Take care.
