RA Positive And ESR High, Intake Of Sugar Is More, Suffering From Left Knee And Right Elbow Pain. Is Knee Surgery Essential?
Hello Sir,
IM 63years-56Kg-155cms.I M RA-Positive & my ESR found very high. My in take of sugar is more.Currently suffer from Left Knee and right elbow pains.Both are deformed. How to reduce ESR & control RA My doctor has advised to go for knee replacement as knee is bent in 15 Degree.Can not walk without walker support.

Your raised ESR indicates that the disease activity is high in the body.
Propably both your elbow & knee joint are also affected by Rheumatoid arthritis producing deformities.
You have to use DMARD's (disease modifying antirheumatic drugs) to control the disease activity. Consult an orthopedic surgeon or a rheumatologist for a complete prescription of drugs.
Total knee replacement surgery is a very good option for Rheuamtoid arthritis involved knee with deformity. It provides correction of the deformity and also gives painless movement for the knees. So, go for it.
