Reason For Chest Pain After Doing Exercise?

Hello Doctor, 2 weeks ago I was doing push ups and during 5 th set i.e. after approximately 140 push ups i started feeling chest pain on left side. At that moment i didn t concentrate and left that pain unattained...but when i went to gym on day after another I could realize intense pain at one point in chest and it was constant. Doctors medicated me with some muscle relaxtant and that worked well to but even though 20 % pain,is still there. Whenever i bend downwards or move downwards to,wash my face in wash basin that chest part pains. I,have completely stopped working out ...what would you suggest me. Is this muscle tear or any other severe injury. Kindly acknowledge as I want to resume my workout soon. Warm Regards, Manoj

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
It seems musculoskeletal pain mostly.
But, since it is left sided chest pain, we need to rule out cardiac cause first.
So get done ECG to rule out cardiac cause.
If ECG is normal then no need to worry for cardiac cause.
It is musculoskeletal pain mostly.
Try to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting, push ups and other gym exercise for atleast 1 month.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
4. Start painkiller and muscle relaxant.
5. Apply warm water pad in affected site.
Don't worry, you will be alright and will able to start your exercise soon.
