Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am a 43 year old Non smoking or drinking mother of 4. I am very heavy 70lb over my normal weight. I had a baby 1 yr ago and can t seem to loose the weight. My concern now is that I sleep very well at night about 8 to 9 hrs a night and then sleep durning the day another 3 to 4 hrs. What is wrong with me?
I very well understand your concerns Mam. Loosing weight is a problem most of people around and mostly mothers find it difficult to loose weight after pregnancy. However, considering your long hours of sleep, I strongly recommend you to check your thyroid hormones levels and sometimes, it could be due to deficiencies certain vitamins and minerals like B12 or iron. If nothing is wrong physically then worrying about weight itself can make you depressed which would lead to weight gain and long hours of sleepiness. So to rule out these and other causes as well, please visit your family physician. Also learn about eating the right food with lot of fibers and doing the right exercise from your physician. If you have any other questions about weight loss, please don't be hesitant to contact me. I wish you a speedy recovery.
