Reason For Having Inflamed Cervix After Started Having Sex Along With Abdominal Pains
Hi My daughter has just turned 18, has recently started having sex with her boyfriend and has an inflamed cervix. She has had an STDs test and has come up clear. She has had tummy pains on and off since she was 9. First of all they thought it might have been appendicitis but wasn't because she still has her appendix, then abdominal migraine, then the latest diagnosis after a brief hospital visit 3 years ago was mesenteritis. I am wondering whether it may be ovarian cancer and whether the pain could have stemmed from her ovaries all those years ago. She has had intermittent bleeding between periods and still has tummy pains sometimes more sever than others. She has an appointment with a specialist on 28th March and won't let me make an earlier private appointment.

I understand your concern as a mother.
However this has been going on for so long that waiting for a few more days will not harm. I do not think it is cancer as it does not have such a long history. Ovarian cancers are very aggressive and had she had it she would have been very bad by now. So please do not think about it.
The likely possibilities from the gynec point of view are endometriosis. It occurs due to growth of the uterine lining in abnormal places like the abdomen and ovaries. Other causes may be diverticulosis, ovarian cysts [ not cancerous], mesenteritis, renal pain, gall bladder pain, baldder diverticuli and so many more. So examination and investigations like ultrasound are important.
Do not worry. It is just a matter of few days.
