Reason For Having Small Bumps On Thighs And Below Knees With No Change In Shaving Cream To Shave Legs?

A little over a month ago i started getting these pimple like bumps on my upper right thigh. I would pop them & white stuff would come out like a regular pimple would, but after a while it would start to hurt. When ever I would walk it would hurt and it would become red around the area & it would stay like that for a while. They would scab up & then when the scab was gone it would leave a grey patch of dry skin that would flake off. You can still see where the bumps were, but now the bumps have spread from my upper thigh to my knees & a little below. I'm not doing anything different than usual when it comes to shaving my legs. I don't shave my legs every day. I try to do it about every 3 days & I have been using the same shaving cream for a while & it's never caused me problems before. What are these bumps & what can I do about them?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the small bumps on thighs and below knees with no change in shaving cream to shave legs.

The first and foremost of the thing is you do not have any serious problem. It is one of the most commonly seen skin illness.

It appears form your query that you have developed " recurrent folliculitis" with infection and inflammation at the affected region. This is due to bacterial proliferation of staphylococcus bacteria.

For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and give her pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the oral antibiotic therapy to prevent secondary infection.

Take care.
