Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter age 29, very good health, very active, lhas developed over several readings at doctor's office high blood pressure, all blood work came out fine. she has been on birth control pills for 12 years. Can this be the problem. she also has been feeling lightheaded for 2 weeks. she did have a cold/allergies about 3 weeks ago.
Hi I appreciate your concern for your daughter's high BP. Apparently the use of oral hormonal contraceptive pills (birth control pills) seems to be the reason behind her high BP.
When used for such a long time or 12 years the oral hormonal contraceptive pills are associated with a number of side effects like deep vein thrombosis, jaundice, and increased BP.
She is therefore advised to stop taking the birth control pills to control her BP.
