Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi.... I had Laporoscopic gastric bypass surgery 9 years ago and have developed an internal abdominal hernia. The bulge started out small but seems to have increased inside along with now experiencing some discomfort in the area. Should I see a gastric bypass specialist, general surgeon or other medical specialty MD in order to get the best recommendations regarding what the recommended options are.Thank you.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of Laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery 9 years ago and developed hernia. The bulge started small but now has increased in size as well as have some discomfort in the area. Wanted to know whom to meet. I would advise you to meet a General Surgeon doing Laparoscopy. It is possible that if the sac opening is small you can get this repaired by Laparoscopy method. Or even an open approach can be helpful. Till then avoid constipation. Avoid cough. Avoid strenuous exercises or work as it will increase the intra-abdominal pressure.
