Recovering From A Bad Bout Of Bronchitis, A Spot On Right Rib Throbs, Have Abdominal Bloating. Advise ?
Hi I am recovering from a bad bout of bronchitis. It started about a month ago and I have just finished a course of antibiotics which have knocked it out. The coughing has badly bruised my ribs (my doctor used the word bruised) but there is one particular spot in the right floating rib that throbs and keeps me from sleeping. The pain seems to be in the rib when I touch it but it also seems to refer closer to the abdomen. The worrying thing (as if this wasn't enough!) is that, since the bronchitis began I have had abdominal bloating which is not resolving. Is this related to the bruised ribs? Please advise.
The pain on the rt side could be because of the bouts of hacking cough which may have resulted in stretching or tearing of some muscle fibre or some connective tissue. Take some pain killer, do some hot water fomentation and it will soon pass off. The bloating in the abdomen could be because of excess gas production which could be because of antibiotics or other medicines that you too. This should also pass off soon. If symptoms persist consult your treating physician who will guide you accordingly.
