Recovering From Post Concussion Syndrome. Headaches, Mood Swings, Difficulty In Getting Erections. Due To Alcohol Consumption?

Hi I'm 24 years old. I suffered from Post concussion syndrome last summer and I've only just recovered from my symptoms. I would get headaches, aggression problems, mood swings, lack of libido. I've drank alcohol on a couple of occasions now and I'm finding the effects of it quite damaging. My libido has returned back to normal but I find that after alcohol consumption, I struggle to get hard erections. I drank a week ago now and I'm struggling to get rock hard at the moment. It's frustrating because I have a girlfriend. What's happening to me? Is the alcohol affecting my hormones more then it would or is this all in my head? Thanks very much for the help

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

There are several side effects to alcoholism and unfortunately your current sexual problem may one among them. Concussion syndrome refers to a mild traumatic brain injury as you already might know.

But here, your erection problem simply refers to anxiety after all that stress inducing problem and recovery thereof. There fore just relax and wait. Be patient and within days your sexual libiso would be normal.

Wish you speedy recovery

General & Family Physician Dr. S. Jegadeesan's  Response
Hello,
You had concussion last summer and almost it has taken 1 year to just recover from your concussion symptoms. The duration and severity of symptoms depend upon the amount of concussion. The symptoms of a concussion may be physical damage to the brain and neuropsychiatric problems. I need not to say much about the symptoms, as you have experienced all those symptoms. The duration of this status is unpredictable.
Post concussion also the symptoms may persist like headaches, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, memory and attention problems, sleep problems, and irritability.
You are not advised to consume alcohol or drugs, as they may delay the healing process
Your behavior changes like irritability, slow reaction may be due to to the concussion only. But you must keep in your mind that all these changes are reversible with medicines and meditation.
Even though alcohol has not affected your hormone, you have to avoid it.
Full erection is possible by avoiding frustration, tension, angry and irritation.
Wait patiently, you will recover to the pre concussion stage.
You need time and patience.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
