Recurring Dizziness. History Of Starting With Sulfameth, Trimethopan. BP 102/65, Pulse 70. Low Blood Sugar Due To Pills?

I started taking sulfameth/trimethopan 2 1/2 days (5 pills) ago. Yesterday and today I have felt dizzy several times. Tonight my blood pressure was 1102/65 pulse 70, and my standing BP/P was nearly the same. That is a normal BP for me. I had blood work Monday and everything looked good. My RBC is still low, but higher than 2 months ago, after chemo for APL. It was 3.86 with 4.2-5.4 noted as normal.I see dizziness with this drug may signal low blood sugar, but I had eaten one of those baby sizes of a candy bar about an hour earlier. Does this sound like something I have to see my dr. about?

Hi, thank you for posting.

One of the side effect of bactrim(sulfamethoxazolum/trimethoprin) is allergic reaction. Also other side effects are: dizziness, slow heart rate, weak pulse, severe tingling, numbness and weakness. It can cause folic acid deficience that causes anemia. You should quit the treatment with sulfamethoxazolum/trimethoprin. Contact your medic to change the treatment.
Take Care.
