Recurring Sores, Lesions, Itching, Swelling And Redness. Biopsy Revealed Necrosis. What Seems Wrong?
Hi, Your mother is having skin disease related with mind. It may be factitious dermatitis. In this dermatosis, patient has compulsion to prick or injure his own skin. It runs long course. There may be neurodermatitis or nodular prurigo.. Other psychologically induced dermatoses. Antihistaminics, antipsychotic drugs and antibiotics may be given. Short course of steroid may be helpful. Locally steroid with antibiotics may be applied. Psychotherapy may be also helpful. Consult dermatologist and psychiatrist for combined treatment. I hope she would be benefitted. Thanks.
